Urgent Care

All urgent care appointments are booked online. No walk-ins. Our Urgent Care manages most of the things that an Emergency room does. We see all kinds of routine problems such as fevers, respiratory illness, breathing problems like asthma and croup, abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea, neurologic problems, seizures, urinary tract symptoms, rashes, head injuries, sprains, simple fractures and lacerations. We can apply splints and casts. We stitch, staple or glue lacerations.

Unlike regular walk in clinics or the Emergency room, your child is seen by a pediatrician who is an expert on how problems should be managed in children, which is often different from how things are done for adults. If your child requires reassessment or other follow up, we do that too, ensuring continuity of care. If your child requires hospitalization, we can often arrange direct admission to the Pediatric ward at Lakeridge Oshawa or Ajax-Pickering. We also have ongoing connections with Sick Kids if required.

If you're concerned your child may be seriously ill or injured, call 9-1-1 immediately.

Children are growing and developing. They need immunizations to keep them safe and healthy. Parenting is difficult, demanding and always changing. Pediatricians are experts in the care of children and adolescents, both in sickness and in health. Routine checkups are important to keep your child healthy and monitor that they are growing and developing normally. We also know lots of tricks to help navigate the challenging road of parenting.

We provide primary care for pediatric patients who do not have a family doctor and for children with special needs that are better managed by a pediatrician. Intake is occurring on an ongoing basis as space allows.

If you're concerned your child may be seriously ill or injured, call 9-1-1 immediately.

Consultations

A pediatric consultation is when another physician, usually a family doctor, needs a pediatrician’s expertise in managing an issue with your child. Consultations are specially booked longer appointments so we can give these issues the time and attention they need. There are 2 types on consultations - urgent or routine.

Urgent Consultations are usually for an acute issue and are seen within 48 hours. If needed, same day consultations are available. Your family doctor just has to call us. If your child has a chronic problem (more than 2 weeks) that you are concerned about, please see your family doctor and ask them to make a referral to Durham KidsKare. Depending on what the problem is, your child will be seen at the next available appointment time.

If you're concerned your child may be seriously ill or injured, call 9-1-1 immediately.
